For SMEs, entrepreneurs and solopreneurs selling physical products, finding flexible, affordable and secure storage services is one of the greatest obstacles. While many struggle to find one that ticks all the boxes, Ms. Jennifer – the owner of The Lab has entrusted Cube Self Storage with her apparel and accessories.
The Lab wholeheartedly centres on Experimental Fashion – where clients can be inspired, customise their apparel and collect them immediately.
Visiting the store, they will be able to design their own T-shirts, hoodies, and bags in a Creative area. Afterwards, they can drop by the Production lab to make their creation come true using a variety of practical heat-press machines. While waiting to collect and purchase the final products, visitors are welcomed to relax and socialise in the Coffee area.
The Lab’s brainstorming and conceptualisation process dates back to 2021. One year later, the product development was completed and ready to be launched. Unfortunately, that was the time the Covid-19 hit and left a devastating impact on Vietnam. The pandemic tremendously affected the supply chain, causing a shortage of material, an increase in the production cost and production time frame. The shrinking economy, fragile market and lockdowns also prevented everyone from unnecessary expenditure such as apparel. Across the country, countless businesses were forced to close down and filed for bankruptcy.
As a solopreneur, it’s already challenging enough for Ms. Jennifer to complete everything on her own, from planning, design, product development to branding. With the exponential expansion of Covid, the products that had been sent to other cities were returned back to Ho Chi Minh City. The economic crisis also postponed The Lab’s Experimental Fashion Store.
The business strategy was decided to be more agile. Instead of having a physical location, The Lab shifted to become an eCommerce business. The products, Commerce packing materials and labels took a lot of Ms. Jennifer’s living space, which inhibited her from enjoying life for nearly two years. It was utterly crucial for her to free up the space for refreshment and creative activities, as well as finding inspiration, sketching, and painting. That was when she decided that she would need to find a storage solution for The Lab.
The self storage concept only entered Vietnam in recent years, and many people are still unaware of what this service is. Originally, Ms. Jennifer considered a traditional warehouse but her volume was too small and the storage facilities she reviewed did not pass her requirements. Fulfilment storage was also a consideration, however the cost was high for her business. When she found out about Cube Self Storage, it ticked all her boxes – from the storage cost to the facility’s conditions. After being introduced to Cube’s storage services, she contacted us immediately and was impressed with how smart the model is.
After sending all the valuable goods and items to Cube, Ms. Jennifer can free up the space that interfered with her daily life for nearly two years. The newly reclaimed space enables her to work on more product ranges and new collections. Furthermore, she can manage the products and pack them easily to fulfil eCommerce orders at Cube storage facility. So far, she’s satisfied with the service and the 25-year anniversary special offer from Cube – which has saved businesses like The Lab and MSMEs a lot of storage costs.
